Walkie talkies have been around since the 1940s and have been popularly used in the Second World War. Walkie talkies are two-way radios which allow users to communicate with each other though they are hundreds of feet away from one another.
Today, walkie talkies are mostly seen in toy stores as children’s toys. A kids walkie talkie also serves the same purpose as a walkie talkie used by the military. Kids’ walkie talkies are also used as a means of communication between two parties who are a few meters away from each other.
Walkie talkies which are made as toys for children are less complicated than those that were used and are still being used by the military. Consumer walkie talkies especially those made for children make use of one or two frequency channels and can only be used for short distances. They also make use of a lot less power.
Unlike other walkie talkies, a kids walkie talkie contains a code key for transmitting messages in Morse code. Kids’ walkie talkies also contain a power switch for turning the unit on or off as well as a button which when presses allows the user to talk and transmit to the other unit. Some toy two-way radios also have a volume control dial.
Unnecessary as it might seem, a kids walkie talkie can be very useful when it comes to contacting your child if he is just around the neighborhood. It can also help a lot when there is an emergency situation. It is not just a toy.
